The Forest Resources Management and Community Ecology Research Units, along with the  WSL Biodiversity Center, are pleased to announce the upcoming workshop on “Research on the Tree Species Trial «Copera»: Current Status and Future Research Directions.”

The workshop aims to inform interested scientists about Copera (history, current research, available data, status, potentials, and limitations of the research site) and to facilitate connections among scientists interested in developing project proposals for further research in Copera.

In the 1950s, a unique 30-ha tree species trial was established in Copera, Ticino. In total, more than 70 native and non-native species were planted on ca. 240 plots. Inventories stopped in the 1990s but the trial still exists. Tree species test sites of this age are rare and provide unique research opportunities about tree species suitability during climate change. In this workshop, we will recapitulate previous research activities in Copera until today and discuss potential future research directions.
